Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Early Acceptance Program

An accelerated pathway to medical, dental, or pharmacy school

The LECOM Early Acceptance Program is an affiliation agreement between ˮAV˵ College and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). The program allows qualified ˮAV˵ students to apply for early acceptance to LECOM’s College of Medicine, School of Dentistry, or School of Pharmacy.

When do I apply to LECOM?

You can apply to the early acceptance program before matriculating at ˮAV˵ or within your first three years of undergraduate study at ˮAV˵. Successful applicants will be offered provisional acceptance to their chosen professional program. Upon successfully completing the required prerequisite coursework, students start at LECOM the summer after their ˮAV˵ graduation.

Why should I consider the LECOM Early Acceptance Program?

  • You can secure your future early.
  • You will save time and money.
  • The application/admissions process is simplified by applying to only one school.
  • You can skip the MCAT for medical school. If you meet the qualifying standardized test criteria (minimum 26 ACT or 1240 SAT on a single exam), then you do not need to take the MCAT to apply for LECOM’s College of Medicine.

How soon can I start the program after graduating from ˮAV˵?

Students can begin their professional program immediately after graduating from ˮAV˵. No glide year or transitional period is required.

Will I have help applying to the program?

Yes, there is dedicated advising for the program. You will work closely with ˮAV˵’s Prehealth Advising Office throughout the application process.

What are the general eligibility requirements?

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Earn a minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA at ˮAV˵
  • Earn a minimum 3.3 science GPA at ˮAV˵
  • Major in a science discipline
