Campus Hazing Transparency Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act

Hazing is expressly prohibited by Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵ College. Individual students, groups of students, or student organizations who commit an act of hazing are subject to disciplinary action by the College up to and including dismissal and may be referred to local criminal authorities.

Definition of Hazing

Hazing is defined as any act that, as a condition for initiation into, affiliation with, admission to, or continued membership in a group or organization:

  • Endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student or other individual;
  • Inflicts bodily harm, causes excessive mental or physical discomfort, intimidation, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule;
  • Destroys or removes public or private property; or
  • Compels a person to participate in any activity which violates College policy or local, state, or federal law, regardless of the person’s willingness to participate.

Examples of Hazing

Examples of hazing may include, but are not limited to:

  • Physical brutality (e.g., whipping, beating, branding)
  • Forced consumption of food, alcohol, or drugs
  • Acts of humiliation, including wearing embarrassing attire
  • Sleep deprivation or confinement in small spaces
  • Verbal abuse, threats, or any activity that causes extreme mental stress
  • Any coerced or involuntary activity that serves no constructive purpose

Clery Act Compliance

In accordance with the Clery Act, hazing is a reportable crime and must be disclosed in the College’s Annual Security Report (ASR). The College tracks and reports all incidents that meet the Clery definition of hazing, regardless of prosecution or outcome.

Reporting Hazing

Any member of the Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵ community who believes they have experienced or witnessed hazing is encouraged to report the incident immediately.

All reports will be taken seriously and handled in accordance with applicable College procedures. Retaliation against individuals who report hazing is strictly prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.

Sanctions

Individuals or organizations found responsible for hazing will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include probation, suspension, removal from the College, and/or revocation of organizational recognition.

Education & Prevention

Ë®¹ûÅÉAV½â˵provides hazing prevention education through orientation sessions, student leader training, and ongoing awareness campaigns. The College is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, safety, and mutual respect.
