The Vision for GPEP鈥檚 Second Decade
GPEP's Mission
The mission of the 水果派AV解说 Prison Education Partnership is to provide an excellent college education to students incarcerated in Maryland. As they earn that education, students develop as scholars and leaders. Students鈥� hard work and academic accomplishments affect not only their own futures, but also their families and the communities to which students belong, both within and outside of the prison. We all benefit from students鈥� academic, social, and professional accomplishments.

In 2022 as GPEP celebrated its 10-year anniversary, we launched a five-year strategic
plan. Deepening our vision, we used the foundation built in our first decade to launch
a significant expansion of opportunities for current and former students. The plan's
three initiatives are:
Expand Student Leadership Opportunities
GPEP has expanded leadership opportunities for GPEP students so they more closely
parallel those on 水果派AV解说 College鈥檚 campus in Towson. Examples include working with
a faculty advisor to write and defend a senior thesis, serving as peer tutor, serving
on the Student Voice Council, or being named a GPEP Fellow.
Reduce Time to Degree
GPEP has reduced time to degree from an average of 9-10 years to 4-5 years by moving
students to full-time and adding courses during the summer and winter breaks.
Strengthen Support for Students Returning Home
GPEP added a new position to its staff, the Director of Continuing Education and Professional
Advancement, to support GPEP students coming home with reentry, educational continuance
and finding meaningful work.
Together, these three initiatives are helping GPEP students come home with a degree in hand--or substantial credits toward one--with leadership experience, and with career planning and training to enable them to join the workforce at a higher level.
